Postăvarul Massif is a relatively small area of the Carpathians’ Bend, but it is very diverse – deep gorges, special rock formations, caves – and it is the most explored mountain in terms of tourism. It is bordered to the west and north by the Burzenland (Ţara Bârsei) basin, while to the east by the Timiş Valley. Its highest point is Postăvaru Peak (1799 m). The area is very easily accessible by rail, road and plane, and the main roads leading to Bucharest run next to the mountains.

Braşov - founded by the Transylvanian Saxons - is located on the northern edge of the mountain range. It is one of the most important cities of Transylvania, a flourishing center of historical and cultural traditions of three nations: Saxons, Romanians and Hungarians. Its most important sights: the Downtown of medieval origin, the City Wall with bastions and gates, the Main Square with the old town hall, the Black Church, the Citadel and the Zoo. Tâmpa Hill (960 m), which offers a unique panorama about Brasov, can be reached by cable car from the city center.

The tourist center of the area is Braşov–Poiana mountain resort which is the most famous ski resort in Romania. The highest peak of the mountain range can be reached on several cable cars from there.

Predeal is a known resort town in the southeastern where the hiking trails to the most beautiful parts of the neighboring Piatra Mare Mountains start from.

The castle of Râşnov is worth highlighting among the attractions of the settlements rich in historical monuments on the western side of the mountain range.
